In the Odesa region, a man threw a kitten from the sixth floor

In the Odesa region, law enforcement officials are investigating a case of animal cruelty that resulted in the death of a kitten thrown from the sixth floor of a high-rise building.

The incident came to light on June 8 after a video appeared on social media showing the dead animal near a residential building in one of the settlements near the Tairovska community.

Law enforcement identified the suspect as a 47-year-old local resident who was intoxicated at the time. It turned out that he had thrown the kitten out of the window himself.

“The man had acquired the animal on June 7,” the police noted.

According to the suspect, he got rid of the animal because it “annoyed him and ruined things at home.” The kitten died at the scene of the fall.

Investigators entered the information into the Unified Register of Pre-trial Investigations under Part 1 of Article 299 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (cruel treatment of animals). This article provides for criminal liability in the form of imprisonment.

This was reported by the police.

Earlier, the Netishyn City Court in Khmelnytskyi Oblast heard a case involving the cruel treatment of an animal that resulted in its death. The criminal proceedings centered on an incident involving a Toy Terrier that died after being thrown out of a window.

In Odesa, law enforcement officials initiated criminal proceedings regarding the mistreatment of domestic animals.

In Ivano-Frankivsk Oblast, during the “Horses of Boikivshchyna” festival, which took place on January 24–25 in the village of Porohy, cases of cruelty to horses were documented.
