Russia is trying to drive a wedge between Ukraine and its partners over drone incidents – Zelenskyy

The Russian Federation hopes to use incidents involving stray drones to undermine relations between Ukraine and its close partners, particularly the Baltic states and Finland.

This was stated by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy at a joint briefing of the leaders of the Nordic-Baltic Eight in Tallinn.

The head of state explained that during hostilities, both sides actively use electronic warfare measures, which can cause drones to change course. The enemy is trying to take advantage of this, using such incidents to promote rhetoric about alleged “Ukrainian attacks” in order to sow division in Europe and reduce public support for Ukraine. According to Zelenskyy, the best response to these provocations is to deepen cooperation within the framework of the Drone Deals. Ukraine has expressed its full readiness to send its expert teams to partner countries where potential risks exist, to share combat experience and train local specialists to effectively defend against such incidents.

Zelenskyy and Rutte commented on the drone incidents in NATO airspace.

The Finnish Air Force will conduct special exercises to repel drone attacks in the eastern part of the Gulf of Finland, as well as in the Kymenlaakso and South Karelia regions bordering Russia.
