The Russian Navy conducted exercises in the Baltic Sea near the Kaliningrad region at the same time as NATO’s large-scale BALTOPS exercises.

During the maneuvers on June 8–9, Russian military personnel practiced launching unguided missiles, dropping bombs, and carrying out missile strikes.

According to Russian media reports, approximately ten aircraft, including fighters and bombers, as well as two small missile ships, were involved in the exercises.

The exercises took place in the Kaliningrad Oblast—a Russian exclave between Poland and Lithuania, where the headquarters of the Russian Baltic Fleet is based.

Meanwhile, NATO’s international BALTOPS exercises are underway in the Baltic Sea; they began on June 4 and will continue until June 20.

About 20 ships from 15 countries and approximately 6,000 military personnel are participating in the Alliance’s maneuvers. BALTOPS is considered the largest military exercise in the Baltic region this year.
