18-year-old Austrian skier Katharina Engelhardt announced the end of her professional career after suffering two cardiac arrests due to myocarditis.
She said she was in a coma for four days, and doctors implanted a defibrillator to prevent another cardiac arrest. According to her, professional sports are no longer an option, but she is grateful that she can lead an active lifestyle.
Last season, Engelhardt won a silver medal in the sprint at the Austrian Championships and repeatedly stood on the podium at Junior World Cup events.
