Alvarez commented on Usyk's fight with Verhoeven
Former undisputed super middleweight world champion Saúl “Canelo” Álvarez commented on the fight between Oleksandr Usyk and Rico Verhoeven, which took place in Giza, Egypt.
Alvarez made these comments in an interview with Seconds Out.
The Mexican boxer noted that he does not consider the stoppage of the fight in the 11th round to have been premature.
According to Alvarez, he did not expect such a competitive performance from Verhuven, but the fight itself made a strong impression on him. He also emphasized that the fight was spectacular and intense.
“A very good fight. I didn’t expect that kind of performance from Rico, but it was a great match... I don’t think the stoppage was premature. I believe the referee saved Rico,” said Alvarez.
