After defeating Verhoeven, Usyk agreed to two more fights

After defeating Rico Verhoeven by technical knockout in the 11th round, Ukrainian champion Oleksandr Usyk said he is ready to fight two more bouts.

This was reported by Suspilne.

Immediately after the fight ended, undefeated German boxer Agit Kabayel, who has a record of 27 wins and no losses, 19 of which were by knockout, approached Usyk.

Saudi promoter Turki Al-Sheikh proposed first organizing a Usyk-Kabael fight, followed by a rematch between Usyk and Verhoeven in the Netherlands.

Kabael stated that he would like to face the Ukrainian in Germany.

In response, Usyk said briefly:

“Okay, no problem. I can box both of them.”

After his defeat, Rico Verhoeven cautiously commented on the possibility of a second fight.

“His Excellency told me he wants a rematch. But that’s not up to me. We’ll see,” said the Dutchman.

Until the fight was stopped, one of the judges had Verhoeven leading.

Following his victory, Oleksandr Usyk retained his world heavyweight titles under the following organizations:

  • World Boxing Council (WBC);
  • World Boxing Association (WBA);
  • International Boxing Federation (IBF).

British boxer Moses Itauma remains the official challenger for the WBA belt.

Cuban Frank Sanchez became the new challenger for the IBF title following the undercard bouts.

Oleksandr Usyk stepped into the ring against Rico Verhoeven in a fight for the WBC heavyweight world title. The bout will take place in Giza and promises to be one of the most high-profile fights of the Ukrainian’s career. The Ring title belt will also be on the line.

Prior to this, Usyk and Verhoeven held a joint press conference ahead of the fight and engaged in another battle of wits, where they openly expressed respect for one another but also their readiness for a tough fight. Both athletes emphasized that despite their different disciplines, they are united by a love of fighting and competition.
