Video: Lapin lost by knockout in Egypt ahead of Usyk's fight
Ukrainian boxer Daniel Lapin was knocked out in a bout held as part of the boxing card leading up to Oleksandr Usyk’s fight. The Ukrainian lost to French boxer Benjamin Mendes Tani.
The fight lasted only four rounds. It was during this stretch that Lapin was knocked down twice. After the third time he hit the canvas, the referee stopped the fight.
The Ukrainian boxer suffered his first professional defeat. Until now, he had 13 wins to his credit. Tani claimed the WBA International Gold and WBC Greater Touran titles, which were on the line in this bout.
The bout between Lapin and Tani was part of the undercard for the main event of the evening. Around midnight, Ukrainian Oleksandr Usyk and Dutch kickboxer Rico Verhoeven will enter the ring. The fight will take place in Giza, Egypt.

Prior to this, Usyk and Verhoeven held a joint pre-fight press conference and another stare-down, where they openly expressed respect for one another but also their readiness for a tough battle. Both athletes emphasized that despite their different disciplines, they are united by a love of combat and competition.
The fight is expected to be broadcast in Ukraine on the Kyivstar TV platform, and the bout itself is already being called one of the most intriguing matchups between representatives of different fighting styles in recent years.
