China may be able to remotely control some of Ukraine's electrical equipment

China may be able to remotely control some of Ukraine's electrical equipment

Government agencies in Ukraine must urgently review their approaches to the use of backup power systems connected to the global grid.

Serhiy Beskrestnov, a leading expert in radio technology and advisor to the Ukrainian Minister of Defense, known by the call sign “Flash,” has called for these security measures.

The threat lies in the fact that foreign equipment manufacturers are capable of seizing control over critical infrastructure.

According to the expert, nearly all modern uninterruptible power supply systems for homes, offices, and businesses are manufactured in China. At the same time, their direct manufacturers may have constant remote access to the equipment via the network.

This poses serious risks to national security, as it allows external forces to influence the power grid.

“Chinese manufacturers have remote access to all devices connected to the Internet. The person with access can remotely shut down the power supply system or disable it,” wrote Serhiy Beskrestnov.

The advisor to the Minister of Defense noted that strict security measures had been implemented in the Ukrainian army long ago at his personal initiative.

At the same time, the expert explained that he decided to publicly raise this important issue only after the situation with the country’s power supply had relatively stabilized.

Serhiy Beskrestnov reported this on Telegram.
