A cache of cigarettes was found in a truck in Yagodyn
At the “Yagodin” border crossing, border guards discovered a shipment of cigarettes that someone had attempted to smuggle into Poland. The tobacco products were hidden under the ceiling paneling of the truck’s cab, but the hiding place was discovered during an inspection.
At the “Yagodin” international road border crossing, servicemen of the Volyn Border Guard Detachment foiled an attempt to illegally smuggle cigarettes across the border. A 62-year-old resident of the Dnipropetrovsk region was driving a DAF truck toward Poland. While inspecting the vehicle, border guards decided to examine the cab more thoroughly.

That is where they found the hiding place. Under the ceiling paneling, inspectors discovered 38 cartons of cigarettes that the driver had concealed in structural cavities of the vehicle. They retrieved 350 packs of “Sobranie London” cigarettes and 30 packs of “Parliament Aqua Blue” from the hiding place. All of them bore Ukrainian excise stamps. “During an inspection of the truck, border guards found 38 cartons of cigarettes hidden in the vehicle’s structural cavities,” the Volyn Border Guard Detachment reported.

All the tobacco products found were seized. They were subsequently transferred to the Volyn Customs warehouse in accordance with applicable law. Law enforcement officials are investigating all the circumstances surrounding the attempt to illegally transport cigarettes across the state border. At the same time, border guards remind the public that attempts to hide goods in specially equipped hiding places are regularly detected during inspections at border crossing points. This was reported by the 6th Volyn Border Guard Detachment.
