Those involved in the case regarding the renovation of shelters in dormitories will stand trial
A case involving a contractor and a representative of one of the capital’s universities, who are suspected of embezzling over 1.2 million hryvnias during the renovation of shelters in two dormitories, has been referred to court. According to the investigation, some of the planned work was not actually performed, yet it was reported as completed and fully paid for.
Specifically, in one of the shelters, work on plastering and painting the walls, installing plumbing fixtures, and a number of other tasks was not performed. Despite this, funds for the allegedly completed repairs were transferred to the contractor, causing the university losses of over 1.2 million hryvnias.
The Kyiv City Prosecutor’s Office has filed an indictment with the court against the director of the private company that carried out the work and the university’s deputy chief engineer, who was responsible for overseeing its quality.
The contractor’s actions have been classified as embezzlement of university funds and official forgery (Part 4 of Article 191, Part 2 of Article 28, and Part 1 of Article 366 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). The university’s deputy chief engineer will be tried for aiding and abetting the embezzlement of funds.
