A car exploded in Odessa; the SBU is investigating the terrorist attack

The Security Service of Ukraine has classified the car explosion in the Primorsky District of Odesa as a terrorist act and has opened a criminal investigation into the incident. 

This was reported by the SBU press service in the Odesa region.

According to the investigation, the incident occurred late in the evening on May 23 on Universytetska Street.

Two people who were in the car were injured in the explosion. They are receiving the necessary medical care.

The SBU noted that, together with the National Police, operational and investigative measures are being carried out to establish all the circumstances of the incident and identify those involved in the crime.

A pre-trial investigation is underway under Article 258 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (terrorist act).

The agency emphasized that additional details will be provided after the initial investigative actions are completed.

Earlier, Security Service of Ukraine officers neutralized a Russian agent who was preparing to blow up an administrative building of one of the Ukrainian Armed Forces units in Zhytomyr.
