Ukraine will celebrate Ukrainian Music Day in memory of "Chervona Ruta"
Ukrainian Music Day has been officially established in Ukraine. The Verkhovna Rada adopted the relevant decision by passing Resolution No. 15053 with 292 votes in favor.
According to the document, Ukrainian Music Day will be celebrated annually on the third Saturday of September.
The initiative aims to honor the development of national musical culture and its creators.
It is specifically noted that the date was chosen in memory of the legendary “Chervona Ruta” festival of 1989, which became a landmark event in the history of Ukrainian music and cultural revival.
According to Oleksandr Sanchenko, chair of the Subcommittee on the Music Industry of the Committee on Humanitarian and Information Policy, the initiative to establish the holiday came from representatives of the music industry, specifically the Ukrainian Agency for Copyright and Related Rights.
He noted that the professional music community needs a dedicated day to consolidate efforts, develop the industry, and strengthen state support for Ukrainian music.
