In Russia, the Ministry of Internal Affairs has urged citizens to limit cash withdrawals and nighttime money transfers
The Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs has recommended that Russians set daily and monthly limits on cash withdrawals and transfers made via phone number to reduce the risk of funds being stolen from bank accounts.
The ministry also advised limiting online transactions and transfers during nighttime hours, if such a feature is available in the banking app.
The recommendations came amid a record outflow of cash from the Russian banking system. In the first two weeks of August, the amount of cash in circulation increased by 286.4 billion rubles, and since the beginning of the year, Russians have withdrawn approximately 2.4 trillion rubles from banks.
In the first quarter of 2026, 7.4 billion rubles were stolen from bank accounts in the Russian Federation.
Russia is seeing a trend toward staff reductions in various sectors, including IT, healthcare, logistics, manufacturing, retail, consulting, and other business services.
The Russian Ministry of Finance forecasts a sharp increase in regional budget deficits to $21 billion.
