A U.S. Army Apache attack helicopter crashed near the Strait of Hormuz

A U.S. Army AH-64 Apache attack helicopter crashed near the Strait of Hormuz. Both crew members were rescued.

The cause of the crash remains unknown at this time.

According to one of the publication’s sources, it has not yet been determined whether the helicopter was shot down by Iranian forces or if the crash was caused by a technical malfunction or other factors.

The crash occurred after several days of intensified fighting in the Middle East. Despite the declared ceasefire, the situation in the region remains unstable, and the exchange of strikes between Israel and Iran has demonstrated the fragility of the truce.

As part of U.S. Central Command operations, the U.S. military actively employs:

  • Apache helicopters;
  • MQ-9 Reaper strike drones;
  • F/A-18 fighter jets;
  • F-35 fighter jets.

The main objective of these forces is to counter Iran’s de facto restriction of shipping through the Strait of Hormuz, which remains one of the world’s most critical routes for transporting oil and gas.

According to the publication, since the start of the war on February 28, Iran has managed to destroy about 30 MQ-9 Reaper drones. The U.S. has also lost several combat aircraft due to both enemy and friendly fire.

Meanwhile, the crash near the Strait of Hormuz marked the first loss of an Apache helicopter in this conflict.

The U.S. military is currently investigating the circumstances of the incident and determining the causes of the crash.

This was reported by The New York Times, citing sources familiar with the circumstances of the incident.

Iran expressed solidarity with Oman following statements by U.S. President Donald Trump regarding control of the Strait of Hormuz and the possible use of force. This was announced by Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmail Baghai.

Iran and the U.S. exchangedaccusations following new strikes.

The day before, U.S. President Donald Trump announced significant progress in negotiations with Tehran, noting that as part of a potential agreement, Iran could transfer its highly enriched uranium to the United States.

Iran’s Supreme Leader has bannedthe transfer of enriched uranium.
