Hezbollah announced massive strikes on Israeli military targets
The Hezbollah group has claimed responsibility for a series of attacks on Israeli military targets, including air defense systems. According to the militants, dozens of strikes have been carried out over the past 24 hours.
This was reported by Anadolu.
According to the group’s statement, 12 separate operations were carried out, targeting military positions in southern Lebanon and northern Israel, command posts, military equipment, and electronic warfare and defense systems.
Hezbollah claims that the main targets were Israel’s air defense systems, specifically Iron Dome launchers, Drone Dome systems for countering drones, military engineering equipment, and command and control vehicles.
There are also reports of an attempt to shoot down an Israeli Heron 1 reconnaissance drone over the Bekaa Valley.
The group stated that the attacks were in response to alleged violations of the ceasefire and strikes on populated areas in southern Lebanon.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu called the drones a “serious threat” and urged the military to strengthen countermeasures.
There is currently no official confirmation from Israel regarding the extent of the damage.
Prior to this, militants from the Hezbollah group reported striking a battery of Israel’s “Iron Dome” air defense system. According to their reports, the attack used a kamikaze drone equipped with remote control and first-person video transmission capabilities.
As a reminder, Hezbollah has set conditions for a ceasefire and the withdrawal of Israeli troops.
Earlier, Iran announced the opening of the Strait of Hormuz to commercial shipping for the duration of the ceasefire in Lebanon.
In Lebanon, a French peacekeeper was killed during the shelling, and three other soldiers were wounded and evacuated. French President Emmanuel Macron confirmed the incident, stating that Hezbollah or forces affiliated with it were responsible. Paris is demanding an investigation and punishment for those responsible.
