U.S. President Donald Trump stated that an American AH-64 Apache attack helicopter, which was on patrol in the Strait of Hormuz, was shot down by Iran.

According to Trump, he was informed of the incident by the U.S. military command.

“I have just been informed by our great military that last night the Iranians shot down one of our high-tech Apache helicopters, which was patrolling the Strait of Hormuz,” the US president wrote.

Trump noted that there were two pilots on board, who, according to him, were not injured in the incident.

The U.S. president also stated that Washington must respond to Tehran’s actions.

At the same time, no details regarding the circumstances of the incident, the crash site, or a possible U.S. response have been released yet.
