U.S. President Donald Trump faced a harsh reaction from fans during a visit to a basketball game in New York, where he was loudly booed by the crowd

The head of state’s appearance at Madison Square Garden sparked serious discontent among those present, turning the historic visit into a public scandal.

The American leader himself has already publicly commented on the incident, categorically denying the fans’ negative attitude toward him.

The high-profile incident occurred at the famous Madison Square Garden arena immediately before the start of Game 3 of the NBA Finals between the New York Knicks and the San Antonio Spurs.

Donald Trump made history as the first sitting U.S. president to attend an NBA Finals game in person, but this episode will be remembered for the public’s mixed reaction.

When Trump’s face was unexpectedly shown on the big screen during the solemn performance of the U.S. national anthem, a significant portion of the audience immediately erupted in discontent, began to boo loudly, and shout “Traitor.”

The residents’ discontent turned out to be linked not only to their personal political views but also to serious daily inconveniences.

Due to the U.S. president’s visit, law enforcement implemented unprecedented and extensive security restrictions that paralyzed the normal rhythm of life in the area around the stadium.

To ensure Trump’s security, law enforcement completely blocked vehicle and pedestrian traffic, and ordinary fans had to endure huge lines and undergo lengthy, humiliating security checks.

An additional source of frustration for New Yorkers was the decision to completely cancel the traditional fan zone, which typically draws thousands of people right next to the stadium and always creates a special festive atmosphere during the playoffs.

Due to such strict security measures, local restaurants and shops lost a significant portion of their regular customers and suffered financial losses.

Despite the tense situation around him, the U.S. president watched the game from a VIP box, where he was joined by his granddaughter Kai Trump, Knicks owner James Dolan, and several influential high-ranking officials from his administration.

Despite the obvious hostility from a significant portion of the packed stands, the head of state remained completely calm and refused to acknowledge the unpleasant reality.

The U.S. president publicly told reporters that he heard completely different sounds from the fans in the stadium.

“I think it was mostly applause. It was loud. And it was very enthusiastic,” Trump told reporters before boarding the plane.

This was reported by Yahoo.

Trump stated that Iran had agreed to the U.S. demand not to develop nuclear weapons

Earlier, Iran launched a missile strike on the Ali Al-Salem Air Base in Kuwait, where U.S. military personnel and contractors were stationed. The attack resulted in minor injuries among personnel, as well as damage to U.S. drones. The incident occurred amid U.S. efforts to negotiate an extension of the ceasefire with Tehran.

U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio stated that Iran’s Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei is alive and continues to interact with his inner circle, though he does so cautiously and primarily through written messages and intermediaries. Officials in Washington note that his activity has been increasing recently.
