A Polish man was arrested in Dresden for fishing while intoxicated near the Baroque palace
In Germany, police detained a 35-year-old Polish citizen in connection with an incident in Dresden involving fishing in a pond on the grounds of a Baroque palace. According to law enforcement officials, the man was heavily intoxicated. The circumstances of the incident are under investigation.
Around 4 p.m. on Sunday, a passerby noticed a man fishing in a pond near one of Dresden’s landmarks—the Baroque Zwinger Palace
The Zwinger architectural complex is one of Europe’s most notable examples of late Baroque architecture, which likely influenced the passerby’s decision to call the police to the scene.
Officers who arrived at the pond gathered statements from witnesses who claimed that shortly before the police arrived, the 35-year-old man had managed to catch a fish, which he then released back into the water.
Police conducted a breathalyzer test, which showed that the man’s blood alcohol level was approximately 2.7 per mille. The 35-year-old man’s condition influenced the officers’ decision to place him in temporary custody.
The police did not provide any information on further developments in this case. Among other fish, carp bred in this pond during the summer swim in the pond near the Zwinger Palace, according to Polsat News.
