Armenia has secured a new rail route for freight transport to the European Union via Georgia and Turkey.
This was announced by Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan.
According to him, the Akhalkalaki-Kars railway has become available for exports from Armenia and imports into the country, which is of great importance to the national economy.
Pashinyan noted that Armenia now has a rail connection to the EU via Georgia and Turkey, in addition to existing routes through Russia, Azerbaijan, and Kazakhstan.
He also announced that new rail routes between Armenia, Turkey, Azerbaijan, and Iran are planned to open in the near future.
The opening of the route is part of the gradual normalization of relations between Armenia and Turkey, whose land border has remained closed since 1993.
Earlier, Pashinyan informed Putin that he would not attend the May 9 parade in Moscow
Earlier, Armenia appealed to the EU to send a rapid response team to counter Russian influence.
The EU confirmed its support for Armenia’s European aspirations.
Pashinyan also stated that Armenia is seeking EU membership.
