More than half of Hungarians have already voted in the parliamentary elections
Hungary’s parliamentary elections are seeing unusually high voter turnout, which stood at nearly 54% as of 1:00 p.m. Budapest time. This figure significantly exceeds turnout figures from previous elections, when turnout at the same time was around 40%.
This is reported by Telex.
Voter turnout, the highest in decades, is being observed in both major cities and rural regions of the country. Given that the opposition party “Tisa” leads Viktor Orbán’s party by 7–9% in opinion polls, such turnout could be a decisive factor in reshaping the political landscape. The high intensity of voting indicates significant mobilization of the electorate from both political camps amid the current political climate.
Polling stations remain open, and the final turnout figures could be the highest in the history of modern Hungary. Experts note that compared to past elections, the number of voters who had already made up their minds by noon has increased by a third. The final results are expected to be announced after the polls close on the evening of April 12. Issues of energy security and foreign influence remain key topics motivating Hungarian citizens to participate in the election.
As a reminder, in Hungary, the opposition has a chance to defeat Orbán for the first time in many years.
The opposition party “Tisa” has a chance to win two-thirds of the seats in the Hungarian parliament in the April 12 elections, which would allow it to amend the constitution and key laws.
As a reminder, despite Orbán’s blocking, Ukraine will receive 90 billion: MPA President Galina Heylo on the EU’s plans to finance the country.
Balázs Orbán, political director to Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán, assured that Ukraine does not pose a military threat to his country.
