Every Ukrainian will be able to have their own official coat of arms — Civil Code update
A new identity tool will be introduced into the updated Civil Code of Ukraine, allowing each citizen to officially register a personal or family coat of arms. This initiative aims to protect such symbols from copying and forgery, thereby strengthening the rights of their owners.

Several draft laws to amend the Civil Code as part of its recodification have been registered in the Verkhovna Rada. The initiator and key driver of these changes is the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada, Ruslan Stefanchuk. On 22 October 2025, the parliament approved draft law No. 14056 as a basis and extended its preparation period.
Once approved, these changes will provide Ukrainians with a new official means of identifying their family heritage through coats of arms, which will also contribute to the preservation and development of cultural legacy.
