Hollywood legend Tom Hanks turned 70
On July 9, American actor, director, producer, and screenwriter Tom Hanks celebrates his 70th birthday. Over the course of a career spanning more than four decades, he has become one of Hollywood’s most famous actors, winning two consecutive Oscars for Best Actor and starring in dozens of cult classics.
Hanks gained worldwide fame for his roles in *Forrest Gump*, *The Green Mile*, *Sleepless in Seattle*, *The Terminal*, *Catch Me If You Can*, as well as the film adaptations of Dan Brown’s novels *The Da Vinci Code* and *Angels & Demons*. In addition, he voiced Sheriff Woody in the “Toy Story” animated franchise.
The actor continues to be actively involved in film today. The animated film *Toy Story 5* recently premiered, in which he once again voiced Woody. Hanks also starred in Wes Anderson’s spy comedy *The Phoenician Scheme*, and the sports drama *The Return*, in which he plays a baseball coach, is scheduled for release in the summer of 2027.
In addition to his acting work, Hanks is involved in developing new projects as a producer. In particular, production is underway on the sequel to *Greyhound*, as well as the documentary series *World War II with Tom Hanks* and the second season of the series *America*, in which he serves as narrator.
In his personal life, the actor has been married to actress and singer Rita Wilson for nearly four decades. In April of this year, the couple celebrated their 38th wedding anniversary. Hanks has four children and three grandchildren.
