Macron receives Mahmoud Abbas to discuss situation in Gaza

French President Emmanuel Macron met with Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas at the Elysee Palace on Tuesday, November 11. The main topic of discussion was the implementation of the ceasefire agreement in Gaza. The meeting, which lasted about an hour, took place against the backdrop of the current escalation of the conflict in the Middle East.

Macron announced the creation of a joint committee for the consolidation of Palestine, which aims to resolve all important issues related to the management of the territory. Abbas emphasized that the Hamas group would not participate in the government in Gaza, and that Palestinian forces trained in Egypt and Jordan would ensure security in the region.

The importance of this meeting also lies in the fact that, according to US President Donald Trump, international stabilization forces may soon be deployed in Gaza. Abbas expressed his readiness to hold elections in Palestine after the end of the war, which could affect the further development of the situation in the region.
