Germany has unveiled its first national defense strategy, which identifies Russia as the primary threat to European security.
This was reported by DW.
Defense Minister Boris Pistorius stated that the Kremlin views force as a political tool and is preparing for a possible confrontation with NATO.
The document notes that Russia is already waging a hybrid war against the West, using espionage, sabotage, and cyberattacks.
According to the strategy, Germany plans to strengthen the Bundeswehr and, together with its allies, ensure that hundreds of thousands of troops are ready to repel potential aggression.
Among the priorities are the development of modern technologies, including artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, and unmanned systems, as well as the expansion of air defense capabilities.
Berlin also emphasized the need to increase Germany’s role in NATO and maintain its participation in the nuclear deterrence system.
