Trump is considering a $200 billion request for the Pentagon amid the war with Iran

U.S. President Donald Trump has stated that he may ask Congress for additional funding for the Pentagon in the amount of approximately $200 billion.

CNN reported this.

According to Trump, these funds are needed not only to wage war against Iran, but also to strengthen U.S. defense capabilities overall.

“We want to be in the best shape we’ve ever been in. It’s a small price to pay to stay at the highest level,” he said.

The president clarified that a significant portion of the funding could go toward replenishing ammunition stocks. At the same time, he assured that the U.S. does not face a weapons shortage, but merely seeks to act cautiously and conserve resources.

Trump added that the request would include a broader list of needs than just expenses related to operations against Iran.
