A new platform zoning system is being tested in Kyiv's Syrets district
Navigation stickers with recommendations on platform zoning when the station is used as a shelter have been placed at the “Syrets” metro station.
The pilot project involves a conditional division of the space into four categories. Specific areas are recommended for people with children, people with limited mobility, passengers with animals, and those who need a place to sit.
The Kyiv Metro noted that the zoning is purely advisory. Metro staff will not move people between zones, and the effectiveness of this approach will depend on passengers’ willingness to follow the recommendations.
The zoning is also intended to help on-duty staff quickly assess the situation and provide necessary assistance to different categories of passengers.
Similar measures are currently being developed for other metro stations.
