Mass production of ground-based robots for Ukraine begins in Germany

The German companies DEUTZ and ARX Robotics are launching mass production of the Gereon unmanned ground platforms in Ulm. The first systems are scheduled to be delivered to Ukraine as early as the end of summer to bolster the capabilities of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

To deliver the Gereon to Ukraine, we are ramping up production at our plant in Ulm. In this way, our strategic partnership with ARX Robotics is making a significant contribution to strengthening European defense policy by supporting Ukraine,” said Marco Gere, CEO of DEUTZ’s defense division.

According to the company, mass production is set to begin within the next few weeks, and the first systems manufactured at the Ulm facility are scheduled to be delivered to Ukraine by late summer.

Munich-based defense technology company ARX Robotics develops unmanned, software-controlled ground-based defense systems. The strategic partnership between ARX Robotics and DEUTZ was established in October 2025.

In addition to rapidly scaling up industrial production, the partnership involves the use of DEUTZ powertrains in ARX Robotics’ unmanned ground systems. This includes battery-powered electric drives and, in the future, compact internal combustion engines or hybrid powertrains.

The companies also plan to develop an interface that will integrate ARX Robotics’ AI-based Mithra OS software platform with DEUTZ powertrains.

This is stated in a DEUTZ press release.
