(Video) Kyiv is under attack by Shaheds drone debris has fallen near the Independence Monument
On the morning of March 16, an air raid alert was issued in Kyiv—Russian drones are attacking the Ukrainian capital. Air defense forces are engaging enemy targets. Debris has been spotted even in the city center.

It is noted that debris from a "Shahed" drone fell on the Independence Monument in central Kyiv. Videos of the aftermath of the attack are circulating online. Initial footage shows that the monument was not damaged.
At around 8:26 a.m., an air raid alert was declared in Kyiv and several regions of Ukraine. Shortly thereafter, residents on the right bank of the capital heard the sounds of explosions. City authorities confirmed that air defense forces were in operation.
“Air defense is active in Obolon. Stay in shelters!” Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko announced at 8:40 a.m.
Explosions caused by air defense operations can be heard throughout Kyiv.
