Zelenskyy responded to rumors about renaming Donbas to Donniland
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy commented on reports that part of the Donbas region might be renamed "Donniland."
He made this statement to journalists.
According to the president, during official negotiations, only the names Donetsk Oblast, Luhansk Oblast, and Donbas as part of Ukraine are used.
He emphasized that he does not comment on unofficial or third-party ideas regarding alternative names for the region.
“The main thing is that Donetsk Oblast and Luhansk Oblast remain Ukrainian territory… and that there is no ‘Putinland,’” Zelenskyy noted.
The president stressed that the issue of the name is insignificant compared to control over the territories.
During their contacts with the U.S., Ukrainian negotiators voiced unconventional ideas regarding the future of certain territories in Donbas.
In an interview with Reuters, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy spoke about the actual losses the Russian army is incurring. According to him, in order to seize territories in the Donetsk and Luhansk regions, the Kremlin is ready to sacrifice the lives of hundreds of thousands of its citizens, which indicates the enemy’s enormous, colossal losses.
