Ukrainian forces eliminated a lieutenant colonel from the Russian Nazi battalion “Española.”
Ukraine’s Defense Forces have eliminated Anton Havrin, call sign “Pegas”, who held the rank of “lieutenant colonel” in the Russian formation “Española.” Havrin had been fighting against Ukraine since 2014.
His death was confirmed by the unit itself on its social media pages.
Havrin was eliminated, likely during one of the assaults on Ukrainian positions. He was buried in the Russian city of Orel.
Since 2015, Havrin had fought on the side of militants of the so-called “LNR.” He rose to the rank of “lieutenant colonel” in the so-called “People’s Militia” and later completed service in Russia holding the rank of police major.
Last year, Havrin joined the “Española” unit, where he served in an engineering and sapper group.
The “Española” Brigade, created in 2022, was a Russian volunteer formation composed of far-right football hooligans. The group fought in Ukraine and was known for its brutality and open display of Nazi ideology.
The 88th “Española” Brigade was recently disbanded. Based on its personnel, several assault units were formed, while its naval and medical detachments, along with the “Melodiya” reconnaissance center, were separated into independent formations.
Colonel Anatolii Shtefan of the Ukrainian Armed Forces reported that another elimination took place earlier: the head of intelligence of the “Española” volunteer brigade — known for issuing horrific threats against Ukrainians — was killed on 3 March during fighting in Ukraine.
