Xpeng CEO urges China to leapfrog directly to L4 autonomous driving
Xpeng’s founder and CEO He Xiaopeng has called for China to accelerate autonomous driving development by skipping intermediate stages and moving straight to Level 4 autonomy. He stressed that Beijing needs to swiftly adjust regulations and policies to enable this transition.
He plans to propose this initiative at the upcoming "Two Sessions" — the annual meetings of China’s National People's Congress (NPC) and the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) starting on March 4. He serves as an NPC delegate.
He described the current moment as a turning point for the automotive industry and introduced a new version of Xpeng’s autonomous driving technology called VLA (Vision Language Algorithm).
This move could significantly speed up the deployment of advanced autonomous driving systems in China and influence global trends in the electric vehicle sector.
