Tesla adds V2L to Model 3 in four markets — InsideEVs
Tesla has updated the Model 3 electric sedan for buyers in China, Australia, New Zealand and South Korea. Vehicles delivered from the fourth quarter will receive the vehicle-to-load (V2L) function, which allows electricity from the high-voltage battery to be supplied externally.
Powering equipment via an adapter
As InsideEVs reports, owners need an adapter that connects to the vehicle's charging port to use V2L. It can power tools, household appliances or camping equipment with combined consumption of up to 2.2 kW.
All versions of the Model Y sold in these four markets will also receive the function. At the same time, it is impossible to install V2L on previously produced Model 3 or Model Y vehicles due to differences in hardware. The adapter's capacity is insufficient to power an entire house, but it may be enough for a refrigerator and basic equipment during a power outage.

Larger screen and interior changes
The updated Model 3 will also have a central 16-inch display with a higher pixel density instead of the previous version's 15.4-inch screen. Other changes include a black headliner, a new Zen Grey seat color and 19-inch Dark Nova wheels.
In the United States, the V2L function is not yet planned for the Model 3. On the US market, the ability to supply electricity is available in the Cybertruck, as well as the Model Y Premium, Model Y L and Model Y Performance. Such Model Y vehicles in the US require an adapter that connects to a mobile charging device and provides output of up to 2.4 kW through two outlets.
