Russia attacked a plant belonging to the well-known pharmaceutical manufacturer Darnitsa in Kyiv

UA.NEWS 23 September 2026 15:27
Russia attacked a plant belonging to the well-known pharmaceutical manufacturer Darnitsa in Kyiv

During their attack on Kyiv on September 23, Russian troops struck the “Darnitsa” pharmaceutical plant. The company confirmed that the facility was hit but has not yet disclosed the exact extent of the damage. At the same time, it is known that no employees were killed.

Russian troops struck the Darnitsa pharmaceutical plant during yet another attack on Kyiv. This was reported by Kateryna Zagoriy, a member of the company’s board of directors. According to her, the facility was indeed hit, but Darnitsa is not yet ready to provide details. “For security reasons and until the relevant authorities have completed their work, we will not comment on the nature of the damage or its consequences,” Zagoriy wrote. She added that at this time, the company can only confirm that none of its employees were killed.

“Darnitsa” asks that photos and details not be published

The company also appealed to Ukrainians, asking them not to share information about the consequences of the attack. They emphasized that photos, videos, and posts from the scene of the attack may contain information that should not be published while emergency services are still on the scene. “Ukrainians, please follow the rules of information hygiene. Remember—the enemy is reading your news and posts,” the company’s statement reads.

Kateryna Zagoriy separately urged people not to publish material from the scene until the relevant services have completed their work. It is not yet known how severe the damage to the plant is or whether the attack will affect its operations. The company promises to provide more information once experts have completed their inspection of the facility.

“Darnitsa” Has Been Targeted by Russian Strikes Before

This is not the first time Darnitsa’s production facilities have come under Russian attack. In June 2026, during a massive attack on Kyiv, Russian troops also damaged the pharmaceutical company’s production facilities. At that time, no employees were injured, and the company reported that the plant continued to operate. Darnitsa is one of Ukraine’s largest pharmaceutical companies. The company manufactures a wide range of medications, including pain relievers and drugs for treating cardiovascular and neurological diseases.

The main question now is what the final consequences of this new attack will be for the company. Darnitsa has not yet disclosed either the nature of the damage or its extent. The company asks that photos and videos from the plant not be shared until the relevant authorities have completed their work. I deliberately did not include any speculation here about what exactly was damaged, whether production has stopped, or whether there will be a shortage of medicines—the company has not confirmed any of this yet. This keeps the report factual while still conveying the main news. Kateryna Zagoriy, a member of the company’s strategic council, reported this on Facebook.

As a result of the enemy attack on Kyiv, the number of casualties has risen to eight; three of them were hospitalized. The other five victims received medical care on-site or as outpatients.
