Russia destroyed 800,000 Ukrainian books during the shelling of Kyiv

As a result of a massive Russian attack on the Kyiv region, the central warehouse of the Denka Logistics complex—where BookChef’s publications were stored—was completely destroyed. According to preliminary estimates, approximately 800,000 books were lost.

The publishing house noted that the destroyed print runs represent the result of many years of work by authors, translators, editors, designers, printers, and logistics specialists. Despite the massive losses, the most important thing is that all employees survived.

Due to the loss of the warehouse, BookChef has temporarily suspended promotions with partner stores and warned of possible delays in processing and shipping orders while the company restores its logistics and arranges for the reprinting of books.

The publishing house emphasized that it is not ceasing operations and will continue to release new books. It also appealed to readers to support Ukrainian book publishing by purchasing books, as this will help restore the lost print runs more quickly.

As a result of the massive Russian attack on the night of July 2, public transportation routes in Kyiv have been altered. This is due to damage to the overhead contact system, a lack of power supply, and efforts to address the aftermath of the enemy shelling.
