Dolly Parton buried beside her husband in Nashville
American singer Dolly Parton was buried in a private family ceremony in Nashville, Tennessee. The performer died on Tuesday at the age of 80. She was buried beside her late husband, Carl Dean, at Woodlawn Memorial Park and Mausoleum, BBC News reports.
Family farewell
The burial ceremony took place on Friday. The following day, the singer's great-niece, Lainey Parton, published a post saying that she still could not believe her relative's death. She called Dolly Parton “grandma” and recalled that the artist had supported her since childhood, helped her while she studied at beauty school, and believed in her dreams.
Lainey Parton also thanked the people who sent the family words of support and flowers. In an obituary published by Woodlawn Memorial Park and Mausoleum, Parton was remembered as a performer and songwriter whose 70-year career inspired several generations of artists and fans.

The family asked people to make donations to Imagination Library instead of sending flowers — Parton's program that sends free books to young children. Amelia Young, a reporter for local television channel NewsChannel 5, published photographs of flowers and condolence books near the grave. There is a brass plaque with the names of Dolly Parton and Carl Dean and engravings of their childhood homes.
On Saturday, a concert honoring the singer was held at the Grand Ole Opry House in Nashville. Her niece Jada Star performed The Orchard, a song recorded with her aunt in 2024 for the album Smoky Mountain DNA: Family, Faith and Fables. At the end of the show, country performer Jelly Roll unexpectedly joined a joint performance of 9 to 5.
Tennessee's governor also announced plans to name Nashville International Airport after Dolly Parton. In the United Kingdom, 9 to 5 is vying for first place in the singles chart after fans actively streamed the song, although its streaming figures have begun to decline.
