Andy Weir to become executive producer of Exoplanet audio drama

Andy Weir, author of the novels “The Martian,” “Artemis,” and “Project Hail Mary,” will become an executive producer of the science-fiction audio drama Exoplanet for Audible. The project is scheduled for release on November 5, 2026, Space.com reports.

Audio drama plot

The script for Exoplanet was written by comic book author and writer Benjamin Percy, known in particular for the novel Red Moon. According to the official synopsis, the starship Wild Blue Yonder is torn apart by a quantum anomaly. The surviving crew members make emergency landings in different eras on the same dangerous exoplanet.

Chief engineer Jeff Shaw, assisted by a virtual assistant, tries to survive in the present and return to his daughter. First officer Becca Bang fights for survival in a hostile alien past, while science officer Logan Bowers awakens in a future ruled by machines. The crew must find a way to communicate across time and confront an alien intelligence that, according to the synopsis, feeds on human technology.
