Italian composer to present a work in Quenya in Oxford

Italian musician, composer and teacher Pierpaolo Battista will present a composition written in the Elvish language of Quenya, created by J. R. R. Tolkien, in Oxford on September 6, 2026. The performance is scheduled during the annual Oxonmoot gathering dedicated to the work of the author of “The Lord of the Rings” and “The Hobbit.” ANSA English reported this on August 28, 2026.

Lecture before the performance

Battista was born in the Italian region of Abruzzo. Before performing the composition, he will give a lecture entitled “Quenya as a Tool for Narrative Unfolding.” The event is to take place at the University of Oxford, where Tolkien studied.
