Troye Sivan to release She’s the Best album on October 9 — Rolling Stone
Australian singer Troye Sivan will release his fourth studio album, She’s the Best, on October 9. According to the performer, the record is more reflective in nature than his previous work. The musician spoke about the new release, music videos and fellow artists in an interview with Rolling Stone.
Sivan’s previous album, Something to Give Each Other, released in 2023, earned him three Grammy nominations. After that, the artist completed a solo tour from Portugal to Sydney, performed in major arenas with Charli XCX and appeared in the HBO series The Idol. Sivan said that while touring, he often returned to his hotel room alone and felt lonely.

Nicole Kidman appeared in the video for the first single, She’s the Best. Sivan and the actress previously worked together on the 2018 film Boy Erased. According to the musician, the idea to invite Kidman arose during a discussion of the music video with director Gordon von Steiner, after which he approached the actress with the proposal.

The video also features drag looks, including one worn by Sivan himself. He called the song a tribute to femininity and said that as a child he felt fear and shame over his own perception of femininity. The musician noted that his first experience with drag was important and liberating for him.
Work on the album
Jack Antonoff worked on the new material and is credited among the songwriters and producers. Sivan had previously collaborated with him on the track Heaven in 2015 and spoke positively about Antonoff’s free and lively approach to studio work.
The album’s closing track, Lost Time, includes a French monologue by actress Lily-Rose Depp. According to Sivan, Depp wrote the text in the studio and recorded it in two takes. Among the musical reference points for the new album, he named The Avalanches, King Krule, Arthur Russell, Madonna and Kylie Minogue. The singer also highlighted the joint Sweat Tour with Charli XCX, calling her a visionary.
