Daewoo E&C considers participation in Vietnam’s energy projects
Jeong Won-ju, chairman of South Korean construction company Daewoo Engineering & Construction, met in Seoul with Vietnam’s Minister of Industry and Trade Le Manh Hung. The parties discussed the company’s possible participation in energy projects and the development of Vietnam’s energy infrastructure, Korea Herald reports.
Experience in Vietnam
According to Daewoo E&C, during the talks Jeong Won-ju stressed that the company has operated in Vietnam for more than 30 years and has an extensive local network. He said that Daewoo E&C seeks not only to participate in projects as a foreign company, but also to make a practical contribution to expanding Vietnam’s nuclear and other energy infrastructure through localization.
The head of Daewoo E&C also mentioned the company’s participation in the Dukovany nuclear power plant project in the Czech Republic. According to him, if the company becomes involved in nuclear projects in Vietnam, it is ready to transfer technology and nuclear construction experience, as well as help local companies strengthen their technological and production-quality capabilities and competitiveness.

Nuclear energy and LNG terminals
Daewoo E&C said it involves local enterprises from the early stages of project preparation, seeking local specialists and establishing partnerships with them. A company representative said that Daewoo E&C is preparing to participate in energy projects, including nuclear energy and the construction of liquefied natural gas terminals.
Le Manh Hung arrived in South Korea together with ministry officials and representatives of the state-owned company PetroVietnam for a three-day visit connected with a meeting of the joint Korean-Vietnamese industrial committee. According to Daewoo E&C, it was the only Korean construction company to hold a separate meeting with the Vietnamese delegation during its stay in Korea.
