Denmark begins storing CO2 beneath the North Sea seabed — The Hindu
Energy group INEOS reported that on September 18, its carbon capture and storage project Greensand began storing carbon dioxide beneath the North Sea seabed in Denmark. According to the company, CO2 is stored beneath the seabed under an old oil platform.
Greensand begins operations
The Hindu reported the launch on Friday, September 18. INEOS described Greensand as the European Union’s first full-scale CO2 storage facility and associated value chain. The company also defines Greensand as a carbon capture and storage project.

Company statement
INEOS Chief Executive Officer David Bucknall said that Greensand creates a foundation on which future carbon capture projects in Europe can develop. According to him, the CO2 storage facility and its associated value chain have already been commissioned.
