Citibank temporarily closes branches from March 12 to 14, 2026
Citibank announced temporary changes in its services: all branches and financial centers will be closed from March 12 to March 14, 2026, as a precautionary measure, with reopening planned for March 16. At the same time, the Citiphone service is operating at limited capacity, and customers are advised to use online and mobile banking apps for account management.
It is also noted that check processing for any checks dropped after 10:00 AM on March 11, 2026, will be delayed. The message additionally references the temporary closure of Citibank and Standard Chartered branches in Dubai, as well as all HSBC branches in Qatar. In Dubai, there is an unofficial freeze on cash withdrawals exceeding $100,000. Furthermore, the recent bombing of an Iranian bank in Tehran by the US and Israel raises concerns that American and European banks in the Middle East might become new targets.
These developments suggest potential ongoing disruptions in the regional banking sector, with clients encouraged to rely on online services to minimize inconvenience.
