Coinbase unveils major upgrade to its ecosystem
Crypto exchange Coinbase held a presentation unveiling a comprehensive platform upgrade featuring a wide range of new functions: 24/7 trading of stocks and ETFs without reliance on traditional market hours, the launch of prediction markets for betting on sports, politics, and economics, and the integration of an AI assistant for cryptocurrencies, stocks, and derivatives.

Other innovations include the launch of custom stablecoins based on USDC, the Coinbase Tokenize service enabling the conversion of real-world assets on-chain with issuance, custody, and trading in one place, as well as DEX token trading on the Solana blockchain, eliminating the need to wait for listings. For developers, Coinbase introduced a toolkit and APIs to rapidly build on-chain products and services. The platform also added functionality to launch and sell tokens directly through Coinbase’s infrastructure. The Base App has been launched as a step towards a "super app" format, along with Coinbase Business — infrastructure and services for companies managing digital assets.
These upgrades aim to greatly expand Coinbase’s functionality, increase its appeal among institutional and retail users, and solidify its position in the ongoing evolution of crypto infrastructure and financial markets overall.
