The dollar has fallen in value: The NBU set the exchange rate for August 20

The National Bank of Ukraine lowered the official exchange rate of the dollar as of August 20 to 44.70 UAH. Over the past 24 hours, the U.S. currency depreciated by 7 kopecks.

At the same time, the euro continued to appreciate. The NBU set its official exchange rate at 51.86 UAH, which is 3 kopecks higher than the previous day.

The NBU is currently maintaining a managed floating exchange rate regime and has no plans to return to a fully floating exchange rate. The regulator attributes this to a significant currency shortage in the market caused by the war.

Thus, after several days of appreciation, the dollar began to decline, while the euro continued to gradually strengthen.

The NBU has announced the launch date for the new 2,000-hryvnia banknote.

As a reminder, a new 2,000-hryvnia banknote will be introduced in Ukraine.

Getmantsev commented on the impact of the new 2,000-hryvnia banknote on inflation.
