The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development has approved two projects for ProCredit Bank totaling up to €330 million. The decision was made on September 9.
The first project involves a loan in hryvnia equivalent to up to €30 million, to be disbursed in three tranches. The funds will be used to provide loans to Ukrainian small and medium-sized businesses.
Of this amount, up to €7.5 million is earmarked for long-term investments by companies in the modernization of technologies and equipment in accordance with EU standards. At least 70% of this funding must be directed toward sustainable and “green” technologies.
The second project is a risk-sharing instrument that will partially cover the credit risks associated with new loans from ProCredit Bank totaling up to €300 million. Direct EBRD financing for this initiative will amount to €90 million.
Of the €300 million portfolio, €240 million is earmarked for working capital and investments by private companies in critical sectors—specifically agriculture, the food industry, retail, and logistics. Another €60 million will be directed toward modernizing enterprises and bringing their technologies in line with EU standards.
Separate support will be available to enterprises whose assets have been damaged by the war, veteran-owned businesses, companies that promote the reintegration of internally displaced persons (IDPs) and people with disabilities, as well as enterprises led by women and young people.
