After installing the launcher, his antivirus software detected a threat. Kox cleaned his system and reinstalled Windows, but within 24 hours, hackers drained all funds from software wallets connected to his browser. The total stolen sum was around $14,000, saved over eight years. According to the investor, he never entered seed phrases or accessed his wallets during the attack.
This incident highlights the risks of fraudulent projects circulated on social media and serves as a reminder of the importance of strict cybersecurity practices and verifying sources before installing any software.
