PayPal expands its PYUSD stablecoin to 68 new countries

PayPal announced the expansion of its PYUSD stablecoin to 68 countries across South America, Africa, and Asia. This marks a significant step for regions with limited banking access and unstable national currencies, enabling users to send, receive, store, and earn with PYUSD.

In these areas, where banking infrastructure is underdeveloped and local currencies are frequently devalued, adoption of a US dollar-backed stablecoin offers a reliable alternative for financial transactions. This is especially relevant for individuals and small businesses alike.

PayPal launched PYUSD in March 2022, offering the service in Ukraine under some restrictions. At this time, it is not confirmed which specific countries within the mentioned regions will gain access to PYUSD.

PayPal is one of the world’s leading payment platforms, specializing in online money transfers, e-commerce, and digital financial innovation. The introduction of PYUSD aligns with the broader trend toward decentralizing payments and expanding financial freedom for users.

This expansion highlights the growing importance of digital currencies in improving access to financial services and stability in economically volatile regions.

Further growth in the list of supported countries and the integration of new features for digital currency use on a global scale can be expected.
