The average salary in Ukraine declined after rising over the summer
In August 2026, the average salary for full-time employees in Ukraine was 31,892 UAH. It rose by 23.1% over the course of the year but fell by 1.1% compared to July.
The highest average salaries were recorded in Kyiv—48,705 UAH. Next were Luhansk Oblast—33,981 UAH—and Kyiv Oblast—32,404 UAH. The lowest figures were in Chernivtsi Oblast—22,807 UAH—and Kirovohrad Oblast—22,869 UAH.
By sector, workers in the information and telecommunications sector earn the most—an average of 79,170 UAH. The lowest incomes were in education, where the average salary was 19,109 UAH.
Compared to July, salaries decreased in most sectors. The largest decline—6.2%—was recorded in healthcare and social assistance.
At the same time, salaries increased in construction, trade, IT and telecommunications, professional and scientific activities, public administration, and some other sectors.
As of September 1, the total wage arrears in Ukraine amounted to 3.8 billion UAH.
