Head of mining company BitRiver detained over tax debt exceeding 1,6 million dollars
Igor Runets, the detained head of the mining company BitRiver, owes the Russian tax authorities more than 1,6 million dollars and has been placed under house arrest for two months as a result.
According to data from "Baza," the group of companies linked to Runets has had its bank accounts frozen due to multi-million ruble debts. The main debtors are LLC "Bitriver Rus" (49.3 million rubles), LLC "UK BITRIVER" (21.5 million rubles), and LLC "Bitriver-K" (22.6 million rubles). Igor Runets personally also has a tax debt of 3,2 thousand dollars.
The investigation has charged the BitRiver head with three counts of hiding funds on a large scale to avoid seizure. The court agreed with the investigators' arguments about the necessity of detention measures and ordered house arrest for two months.
