Bon Secours Mercy Health received approximately $1.1 billion from its stake in a billing company
Bon Secours Mercy Health, a nonprofit healthcare system based in Cincinnati, Ohio, had received approximately $1.1 billion in payments as of August 2026 through its minority stake in Ensemble Health Partners, according to STAT News.
In its financial report for the second quarter ending June 30, Bon Secours Mercy noted two such payments. In February, the system recorded a distribution of $427 million. Approximately two weeks before the publication of the STAT News article, the system also reported a payment of $671 million from Ensemble Health Partners.

The latest payment came after Ensemble Health Partners signed an agreement with a new private equity sponsor. According to STAT News, payments from Ensemble this year significantly exceeded Bon Secours Mercy Health’s operating income for that period.
Seven years ago, Bon Secours Mercy sold its stake in its in-house medical billing and collections company to private equity investors. At the same time, the system retained a minority stake in Ensemble Health Partners.
