Dangerous "triangle of death": girl’s face severely swollen after popping a pimple

Lindsay de Oliveira from the United States popped a small pimple above the corner of her lip, which caused severe swelling and pain on one side of her face. Doctors explained this happened because she affected the so-called "triangle of death"—an area of the face where popping pimples is extremely dangerous as infections can spread to the brain.

Medical professionals warn that the region from the corners of the mouth to the bridge of the nose should never be tampered with, as infections can quickly travel through venous vessels to the brain. Lindsay required a month of treatment for the swelling to subside, but a visible scar remained at the site of the pimple.

This case highlights the importance of careful treatment of facial skin issues and the risks of self-medication, especially in the "triangle of death" area, which can lead to serious complications.
